Good day

Today we are watching presentations. I am very excited to see some of the movies and what people did. I love watching movies like this and it will be very interesting for me. I am a little nervous about presenting our movie. I've never been very good at speaking in front of people so it might be difficult for me to stand up and talk about my process. I do think we have a really good print document though. I like the look and we made some changes to it so it's even better now.

P.S It's a good day because I just found out I 4 pointed my TE class:)

One week

There is only one week left of classes, that means our final presentations are approaching. I really am not nervous at all about doing these. I know what my process was for this movie and what I thought while doing it so writing a reflection on that shouldn't be too difficult. I am also feeling good about our print document. We made it this weekend and I think it looks really good. I'm excited to present out movie and also to see everyone Else's projects. I am also excited for school to be done. :) It's been SO nice outside it's hard to sit in a classroom when the sun is shining and it's 70 degree weather. I am not scared at all about my final grade in this class either, I worked really hard and I am glad I got to do a project like the iMovie because it taught me a lot about writing and how to use a program like that.

I guess I'm not really sure what to write about today. We are going to start finishing our final project of the semester and I am so glad. I am very ready for school to be done and for summer vacation to be here. I really am not too worried about our final project I think we'll do a good job on our flier... I think that's what we decided to make. I don't think it'll take us too long to do. I like making these types of things on the computer so this won't be a project I mind doing. Sometimes I do tend to go overboard on the designs, I think I just see so many things I like I want to put them all on one piece of paper:) I really hope we did well on our Movie and that the final presentation will go well. I am hoping for a 4.0 in this class so doing well on both those projects would really help my grade.

Powerpoints

Today is the day we are doing our power point presentations. I think I may have written too much on my slides..but it was the only way I could figure out how to get all the information on there. Especially exactly how I felt during my process. Hopefully it will be alright:/ We are also going to start doing some things with our print documents for our final presentations on our videos. I think this should go well because it is basically us talking about what we went through to do our projects and make our movies. There were some really fun parts about this and also some difficult steps. I am excited to see everyones movies though, from the topics that some people had I think they should be really cool to watch. I just hope I don't get too nervous talking in front of everyone.

iMovie

We just finished our digital movie and I am really happy with the results of our movie. This was defiantly a new experience for me and I thought ti was really fun to do something different besides just writing a paper. I got to use iMovie something I had never worked with before and I really enjoyed that. I actually learned a lot in just two weeks by doing this project. Our movie was about Women Sports on the MSU Campus. Our goal was to show people that women sports are just as important and competitive and exciting as the male sports. I think we did a really good job of this. We used mostly still shots and showed statistics, but I think that worked. I think the thing I was most excited about was the music, I love music and I think it really brings together any type of movie. In my opinion without music movies or commercials wouldn't have even close to the same effect. I am glad to be done with this project though because it was a bit stressful, but all in all it was a great experience.

Starting the movie

Today we started our iMovies. I think this is going to be a fun project. It's a new program and a little different to work with compared to some of the other programs I've used, but it's pretty cool. I'm excited about our project and the issue we are going to be portraying. I think our issue about women sports is important to all women around campus and I think people will enjoy watching. We plan to have clips that will show women playing sports...we kind of took the idea from the Gatorade commercials that are on TV. We want to portray women as being good athletes...not just girls playing a sport and being weak. I think this project will come out good and our ideas are going to come out great. :) I am a bit nervous about time though... so hopefully we'll be able to start our filming soon.

New Project!

So this week we started a new project. Instead of writing a paper we are going to be making a imovie. I'm actually excited about this...not exactly the taping part, but putting it together seems like it'll be fun. In high school I had to make a lot of power points and I always had a lot of fun doing that so maybe this will be similar to that, only a little more work and in depth of course. I think my group was thinking about doing ours on women in sports. It seems like a good idea considering this is actually an important topic. I personally don't think women get the same credit for playing sports as men do simply because..well..they're girls. If we didn't do that I think we would decide to look at a topic that is important around the world and interview women on the MSU campus about it. Either way I'm excited to start something that doesn't involve writing:)

Finally Done!:)

I would have to say I am not at all upset about being done with my research paper. It was a very stressful task and even though I am done I wasn't all that happy with my ending results. I think I had a good paper and I really worked hard on it, I'm just not to sure if it came out as well written as I would have liked. I also and a little nervous about my intro because it was all my own thoughts and words and I'm not sure if that is exactly what it was supposed to be like. I guess it's just a big weight off my shoulders to have this handed in and now out of my control.. even though that is a little nerve racking. Out next project should be a bit more enjoyable than this one so I am looking forward to starting on that.

Research Paper

I finally got my interview set up. I am actually going to be doing two interviews. One will be with my step mom who just got her degree for special education. She gave me a lot of good articles to read and it has helped me a lot in deciding what to write about. I have decided to do not only why women choose teaching, but also why most choose K-12 and not higher level teaching or a higher position like administration of being a principle. After reading these articles I see that the male population and stereotypes of women have a lot to do with that. I also am interview my TE professor. She has never taught K-12, but instead has done some higher level teaching as well as at the university. She has done some things with education and technology and computers. I think interviewing her will be good because it will give me a perspective of a women who did go into some higher level teaching instead of the norm K-12. I think I have a pretty good start and I'm feeling pretty good about my paper at this point.

Research Paper

I have finally found a topic for my research paper!!:) I am going to do Women in Education as far as the question I would like to do..that is still up in the air. I have narrowed it down to a few and I have decided that I will do the interview and try to answer some of those questions because I feel that in a way these kind of tie in with each other. I have started to do some research and I have found some good articles. I hope I can find some more books in the library because I think with this specific topic they would be the most helpful. I am going home this weekend so I think I might go to my local library to find some things. Hopefully I can get a good start on everything in the next couple days so that when I get back from break I won't be so swamped with work. I am still extremely nervous for this paper. I hope to do well on it when it is all finished. I have also decided that I am going to take pictures throughout my process ( I'm sure there will be one of me pulling my hair out ha ha) and I am also going to do a mini diary to describe the pictures. I actually think that part of this project will be fun.:)

Research Paper

We have just been assigned our research papers. I am becoming more and more stressed about this paper because I am not really sure what I should write about. I know it has to do with our majors, well if we want it to, so I was thinking about doing something with education because I am an education major. I was thinking about talking about women teachers and what they have to go through and what their job is like. I am going to be this person one day so I thought it would be a good topic and also helpful to me to look into what it's like to be a female in the Education Department. I know we need to interview someone and I was thinking about interviewing my TE professor. She is an excellent instructor and I think she would be able to give me a lot of information in this field.

Another Blog on My Rhetorical Analysis

So once again I am having a problem finding one more source for my paper. I have my two credited sources, but the only other ones I can find are on the internet. I am having some problems figuring out what else to use. Most of my paper is written, but I just need to add a few more things. I am also becoming a little stressed about the whole plagiarism thing. I don't want to end up plagiarizing anything in my paper, but at the same time I don't want to fill my whole paper with just quotes. I'm pretty sure so far I've done good with citing my sources and not using someone;s words with out giving them credit. Hopefully I didn't miss anything though:/

Rhetorical Analysis after Peer Review

After peer review today I noticed a lot of things about my paper that not only the person who read my paper pointed out, but things I noticed after. I think I need to put my own opinion in my paper more. I know I have a lot of facts right now, but that's really all it is. Hopefully I'll be able to get enough information to write all 6 pages of this paper. I really do like my topic though I found out after some research that it's an even bigger issue than I realized. I never knew there was problems like harrassment going on during interviews. Women really do struggle a lot in this field of work.

Rough Draft

I have been working on my rough draft for my rhetorical analysis and I see that I have a good topic, I am just having some problems finding good sources. I can find plenty of internet articles about women in sports journalism, but finding books or journals on the library website are difficult. Those journals only talk about journalism as a whole, not the topic I am writing about. Hopefully I'll be able to find some articles though.

Changing in Writing

After reading an article for class I started to think a lot about my online writing. I notice that when I write in my blog I tend to try and be more formal like it's for a grade. I want to sound more professional when I'm writing in my blog or for my writing class. On the other hand, when I write on my facebook I write like I'm having a conversation with my friends. I abbreviate words and am very informal. I think this is because the people who will see my writing on facebook are my friends and they all write in that same way. I guess people really do change the way they write depending on what type of place they're writing.

Choosing A Topic For Rhetorical Analysis

I had some trouble trying to find a good topic for my Rhetorical Analysis paper. I eventually came up with about 3 ideas and thought about which would be difficult to write about. Some were too vague and some were just to simple to write about. There was just too much information. I ended up narrowing it down to two things. One has to do with my major which would be Women in teaching and the other has to do with women and writing. For this one I choose women and Sports journalism. I choose this one because many people say that women shouldn't be able to write about sports or even commentate on it. I thought this might be a good subject to look into and write about. Both are very interesting to me. I know they need to be narrowed down a bit to a specific thing, but I think once I do that I'll have a really good topic.

Rhetorical Analysis Questions

Recently we had to write a rhetorical analysis on two pictures. One was a picture from Iwo Jima one was from 9/11. Both were of men lifting the american flag. Our assingment was to write about these pictures. Mine was on whether or not these pictures should have been made into stamps. Also we had to answer some questions on these pictures. When I looked at these two photos my eyes immediatley went to the American Flag. After looking at that I noticed the men and then the background. I think the most important part of this picture was the flag and what it represents. When these pictures were made into stamps both had the writing USA on them. Only one, though, said heros. I think both should have said something about heros or freedom or somethign to that nature. The purpose of my paper was to question whether or not they should be made into stamps and if they did it the right way. I'm not actually sure if I"m going in the right direction or have the right kind of topic for this specific paper, but I think it's a good topic.

Reflecting on Paper one-autobiography

Now that I am done with my first paper I feel a little bit more comfortable about this class. I had some trouble starting my first paper and getting some ideas, but after I started to write and got feedback from a classmate, I felt better about writing this paper. I think that writing this paper also helped me as a writer. I realized why I write like I do and after looking at past events in my life I saw that my personal life really did affect my writing. I was pretty satisfied with my final draft. Although it was a little scary writing my first college essay, it wasn't as different from writing in my high school AP English class. I hope that after writing this first essay I will be more comfortable and relaxed when I write future papers for this class and any other class I am taking. One thing I did realize when I was writing was that I had to switch from writing about just my life to why my life affects my writing. This was difficult for me only because when I think of writing and autobiography I think of writing about life. I did have a little bit of trouble when I first started writing because I didn't put too much about my writing in the essay. Other than that this paper taught me a lot and helped me feel more comfortable about future writing.
